As part of the celebrations

Dave Irving

Many men are unable to blow the horn at all

including a bellows walking along while a small child tries to attract his attention

from a donkey in mayoral cloak (Sir John Key)

'The Lad Taiyota, Native of Otaheite, in the Dress of his Country' Finish:Stretched As part of the celebrationsTaiyota (Taiata) was the young servant of Toobaiah (Tupaia), 'a sort of high priest of Otaheite [Tahiti]', and is here seen playing 'a musical instrument, somewhat like a flute, which they blow into through their noses'. Both Tupaia and Taiata travelled on with Endeavour, James Cook's voyage, but died in Batavia, on the return voyage to Europe.
